A minor girl was gang-raped in Panisagar sub-division of North Tripura district. The incident occurred on Thursday evening. The victim, a student of Class IX, was abducted by two youths from a shop near her home and taken to a nearby jungle, where she was raped multiple times. The accused then left her on the road and fled. Locals found her and informed the police, who immediately took her to the hospital.
Acting swiftly, the Superintendent of Police, Banupada Chakraborty, along with his team, launched a search operation and arrested two accused, Usman Ali (23) and Ayaz Ali (26), from Rowa area. They were produced in court and a case of gang-rape was registered against them.
The incident sparked widespread outrage in the area, with locals demanding severe punishment for the accused. The police have assured that they will take necessary action to ensure justice for the victim.
It is worth noting that the mother of one of the accused, Ayaz Ali, is a panchayat member of the ruling party in Rowa village, which has added to the tension in the area. However, the police have managed to bring the situation under control.
