After decades, Dalugaon Higher Secondary School is getting a new look, thanks to the initiative of state minister Sudhangshu Das, a former student of the school. The school's renovation had been demanded for years during the Left Front government's tenure but to no avail.
Following the change in government in 2018, young MLA Sudhangshu Das was elected from Fatikroy constituency. Since then, various developmental works have been undertaken in the Fatikroy assembly area.
In 2023, Das was made a member of the state cabinet for his notable developmental works in the area over five years. After becoming a minister, Das has been working tirelessly to develop Fatikroy.
One of his notable initiatives is renovating Dalugaon Higher Secondary School. In an exclusive interview with our representative, Minister Sudhangshu Das said that the state education department has allocated around Rs 13 crore for the new building's construction, which began in mid-2023.
The first phase received Rs 8 crore from the education department. Subsequent allocations were made in the second and third phases. A modern auditorium with a capacity for 300-400 students will be built.
As Das is an alumnus of the school, he has an emotional attachment to it and frequently visits the site to oversee progress.
During the 25 years of Left Front rule, the school's condition had deteriorated significantly. After becoming an MLA, Das ensured the school's reconstruction, allocating over Rs 8 crore from the state education department.
Later, the school was brought under the 'Vidya Jyoti' program, and an additional Rs 3 crore was allocated. The RD department also.
